Donate for Maverick's Seizure Alert Service Dog
Hello! My name is Christi Brockmann, and my son Maverick is fundraising for his service dog.
Maverick is 6 years old and going into 1st grade. He has a bright smile and lots of energy. He is smart and friendly, but has trouble in big crowds, among other things. He has Autism and and Epilepsy. Mavy loves to play with his brothers and sister and daycare friends in our backyard, and watch his brother play soccer. He might try to join a team sport next year, or try gymnastics.
I have 3 boys and a girl ages 4, 6, 9, and 16. I also teach preschool, Coach soccer, and run an in home daycare. Our family is active and involved in our school and church, and we enjoy camping, sports, and traveling.
Maverick was approved for a service dog through 4 Paws for Ability. We are excited to work with them to help Mavy in areas he is struggling. A service dog would first and foremost provide seizure alerts. Having the dog detect seizures would drastically improve the whole family's quality of sleep, and catch more of his seizures so we can time them and adjust medication. The dog would also provide active and passive behavior modifications, as well as emotional support which would increase his ability for independence as he gets older. Overall, this service dog would improve his quality of life.
4 Paws for Ability is an excellent source for service dogs. The dogs are bred and trained at their facility in Ohio. Because of this, our process can be lengthy, but tailored specifically for Maverick's needs. This process is also expensive and we will need to travel to train with our dog. We are looking forward to working closely with our team and creating a lifetime bond with them and our service dog.
We are asking for $20,000 for our initial fee for the service dog so we can be placed in the next training class, which is booking in early 2027. It is a big ask, but any help is appreciated, and questions are welcomed. This dog would be life changing and so helpful to not just Maverick, but our whole family. We are so grateful for this opportunity and appreciate all of the help and prayers and support of our family and friends.
