Lexie's Medical Recovery
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and generous supporters,
Lexie is a remarkable 17-year-old young woman with Down syndrome. On May 14, 2025, she suffered a serious brain injury caused by an arteriovenous malformation (AVM). Lexie was rushed to Detroit Children’s Hospital. She remains in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), unable to move the right side of her body, beginning a long and daunting road to recovery.
Lexie is an 11th-grade honor roll student. She’s a member of her school’s bowling team and loves to sing and dance. Despite the challenges of Down syndrome, Lexie’s determination and bright personality have always inspired those around her. Now, she needs our help to reclaim the life she loves.
Her mother, Kathleen, who is a paraplegic and Lexie’s primary caregiver, has been by her side through this crisis. The family is overwhelmed by the many uncertainties ahead, including medical bills, therapy expenses, transportation and lodging costs near the hospital, and the challenge of adapting to Lexie’s new needs.
We’ve created this GoFundMe to support Lexie’s medical care, rehabilitation, and her family’s needs during this difficult time. Your donations will help cover:
- Medical Expenses
- Physical, occupational, and speech therapy
- Transportation and lodging costs for her and her immediate family
- Adaptive equipment and home modifications
- Financial relief for Kathleen to focus on Lexie’s recovery
Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a real difference. If donating isn’t possible, please share this page—every share helps. Your prayers and kind words are also a source of strength for Lexie and her family.
Your generosity, prayers, and encouragement will mean the world as they navigate this uncertain journey. Let’s surround Lexie with the love and support she needs.
