Hi, I’m Simone — mama to the strongest, sweetest 3-year-old you’ll ever meet, Leighton ♡

When Leighton was born, her birth was poorly managed. She suffered a severe anoxic brain injury (hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy) that permanently damaged her basal ganglia. Because of that injury, Leighton has never been able to sit up on her own, reach for a toy, take a step, or speak. She is completely immobile and has been trapped in silence — unable to tell us when she’s hurting, happy, or just wants to be held.

We have fought every single day since — therapies, equipment, tears, and more love than we ever thought possible. But parts of Leighton’s brain are now starting to degenerate because those areas can no longer connect to her body or her voice.

There is new hope.

Leighton has been accepted into the groundbreaking 28-day Cytotron therapy program at Neurocytonix in Monterrey, Mexico. This treatment uses precise rotational magnetic fields to “wake up” dormant brain cells in the exact regions that were damaged. Children with injuries just like hers have gained head control, arm movement, purposeful reaching, and even their first words after this program.

We need to get her there as soon as possible — while she’s still young and her brain can respond best.
