My name is Lasonta, I'm 36 years old, and I have been recently diagnosed with Thoracic Myelopathy.

You may ask, what is that? As I myself had never heard of it before I was diagnosed.

So, Thoracic Myelopathy is an injury that occurs due to severe compression of the spinal cord. This compression may have been caused by trauma, degenerative disease, or a herniated disc. This condition occurs in the middle area of the spine.

I started experiencing pain in my back late last year, which led me to visit the doctor. I was given medication for the pain and time off from work. After that, I returned to work but realized the pain would come and go, until one night the pain in my back became severe, resulting in another visit to the doctor.

I was given stronger pain medication and was advised to get an MRI.

During the wait time before I could get the MRI done, I went to a reflexologist for treatment and also attended a couple of sessions of therapy and laser therapy, but nothing was working.

Fast forward to now, the only option left is to get Spinal Decompression Surgery, where the affected part of the spine will be removed.

The symptoms of this disease have also brought on scoliosis and have left me with severe pain in my back and legs.

I'm also experiencing trouble keeping my balance, numbness and tingling in my legs, and muscle weakness in my legs, which has resulted in me having to use a cane to move around.

One other symptom I have developed is urinary and stool incontinence.

I am asking for donations to help pay for the surgery, which is necessary to help me maneuver normally again.

Thoracic Myelopathy is considered a serious neurologic condition which, if left untreated, can lead to significant and permanent nerve damage, including paralysis and death.
