Meet the Bird Family! Patrick and Krista live with their family of six children in a small farming town in southern Minnesota. Patrick is a landscaping supervisor at Walmart, and Krista is the principal of a K-8 private Christian school. They have been blessed with amazing children: Bella (17), Joshua (13), Jessica (13), Hannah (7), Caleb (5) and Abigail (8 months).

Krista had been feeling unwell for a few weeks and went in to see her primary care provider thinking it was pneumonia. That same day she and her husband received a diagnosis of stage four lung cancer with lesions on the spine, shoulder and brain. She was taken by ambulance to Rochester that evening. She spent a week at Mayo in Rochester where doctors have pulled out all the stops to do everything humanly possible to help her. There are promising treatment options that are ongoing, and the Birds trust in the Lord to bring complete healing through this time of testing.

There are many unexpected costs and hospital bills as well as time that Krista will be on disability with some loss of income. The family would be so grateful to receive financial support in this time of uncertainty. More than anything, prayers for healing are so important in this time. Krista is determined by faith in the Lord to overcome this diagnosis to see her children grow up, to support her husband, and to continue the work she has been called to.
