Donate for Kendall's Thyroid Cancer Recovery

Donation protected
As most people know, my older sister Kendall received a diagnosis of thyroid cancer on May 24th, after her surgical removal of a thyroglossal duct cyst on May 15th. Although her prognosis is promising and curable with lifelong medication, it still comes with a lot of uncertainty and a long future ahead of her.

Kendall was referred to Iowa City for further treatment and had her first appointment in fall of last year and began discussing her future plans. On January 27th Kendall had her second surgery, which included a total thyroidectomy - due to spreading she had her lymph nodes removed, and 2 more smaller lumps that were found on the left side of her neck. Everything that was removed was cancerous. Her doctor believes her cancer is very rare and fast spreading. After spending a couple days in Iowa City, she is now at home recovering. Kendall will follow up with her doctor in 2 weeks and begin to discuss future treatment and plans. She will have to undergo radioactive iodine treatments to eliminate any other possible spreading, where she will have to quarantine anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks away from her daughter. The road ahead is daunting, this will be an ongoing process. Many doctor visits, scans, lifelong medications, and tests lie ahead of her. I will continue to update this thread as she finds out more and I ask the community to continue to pray for Kendall and our family.

My sister is not just fighting cancer, she’s a devoted single mother to her precious 4 year old daughter, my niece Kehlani. If you know my sister, she is the most selfless and caring person. She is now facing numerous challenges ahead including medical expenses, procedures, time away from work, lifelong medication she is required to have, and transportation costs to drive 2 hours back and fourth to Iowa City. With that being said I humbly reach out to the community to join hands in supporting my sister and her daughter during this difficult time. If you’re able to, please help give her something to look forward to the next few weeks. If you’re unable to donate, your prayers and positive thoughts are also deeply appreciated.
