Katie Holman was born with complex cardiac defects. She has endured a Fontan and Bi-directional Glen operation that helped her 2-chamber heart flow the best that it can, several heart ablations to correct heart rhythm abnormalities, and a pacemaker implantation.
For the past few years, she has been living with Fontan Congestive Heart Failure and a liver that is struggling. Over the past few months, she has suffered from complications due to heart failure and has been hospitalized for days at a time.
A procedure exists called a “mitral valve clip.” Although still not widely performed, it is being discussed as a possible treatment for Katie that could give her better quality of life.
She is hoping that the doctors can pave a way for her to undergo this procedure within the year.
This GoFundMe is being organized by me, Rachel Morton, the oldest of the Holman siblings. Known for her quick wit and sometimes dark but hilarious humor, Katie is beloved by her family, and I am reaching out to ask for financial support for her. While Katie tries her best to continue to work, her finances have been tight. Bills have been piling up as she has been unable to work full time while sick, all while her medical expenses continue to grow. She needs some support to get her finances in order and prepare for any difficulties or travel for the mitral valve clip procedure if it is needed. I’m humbly asking for this support from her family and friends.
