Kathy Dawson Needs Accessible Van - Thank you - She Got It!

Kathy's need has become urgent. She has no transportation. The insurance paid loaner van goes back November 17. Without a van, she only gets as far as a few blocks from her home in her motorized wheelchair. Winter is coming.

Kathy Dawson, a retired Special Ed teacher and former church youth leader, needs urgent help with the remaining $10,000 to buy a specially equipped van to accommodate her scooter. She was already trying to replace her previous van, when she was in an accident that totaled that vehicle on 9/18/2024.

Kathy found a used 2017 van for about $55,000 (yes that is what a used handicapped accessible van costs.) But she has no way of paying the amount that is not covered by insurance.

She was born with numerous congenital defects that affected her entire skeletal system. Doctors were not sure that she would ever walk, but with surgeries, braces, and hard work, she was able to lead a fairly normal life - until a few years ago. The skeletal issues came back with ferocity, and now she is in a wheelchair 24/7 due to spinal stenosis. Kathy also has interstitial lung disease, which sometimes requires oxygen.
