Katalyna’s Quest - With a humble heart I am asking for your help in monetary donation to help me pay for the Stem Cell Treatment & Expenses for my 4 yr old little girl Katalyna, who is diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (CP) & Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE) since birth.
There is a Stem Cell clinical trial for Cerebral Palsy candidates being offered at the Stem Cell institute in Panama City, Panama administered by US Board Certified Surgeons. The length of the stay is one week. I applied for Katalyna to be considered and she was accepted as a candidate for the medical treatment. Now I’m trying to figure out how to get there with her.
Katalyna’s Story - In 2021, while pregnant I was infected with Covid. I was asymptomatic and did not know I had Covid until my breathing became an issue. At 30 weeks pregnant I was rushed to the hospital as I was barely breathing. Doctors immediately checked on the baby and determined Katalyna was in distress in the womb since she was surviving on very little oxygen. Doctors rushed to get Katalyna out of the womb.
As a result, Baby Katalyna was born prematurely and because of the lack of oxygen shunned bleeding in the brain and diagnosed with CP & HIE. She was rushed to Driscoll Childrens Hospital while I stayed behind in my own fight to survive for 10 more days. It was the scariest experience of my life.
As a mother, it has been the hardest most painful experience to see my child struggle with neurological and physical issues. Katalyna did not crawl as a baby, she can’t sit on her own, stand or walk as she has limited physical movement. She can’t sit not speak and can only make sounds to communicate. She can’t sit not chew or eat solid food, she has to be fed thru a GTube connected to her stomach. Katalyna gets seizures that are being controlled by medication. She has a VP Shunt in her brain to help her treat hydrocephalus, which is a condition where excess cerebral spinal fluid accumulates in the brains ventricles into the abdominal cavity. The VP shunt helps the brain drain the excess fluid from the brain’s ventricles into the abdominal cavity.
However, Katalyna is the bright light in my life and that of my entire family. She has the most beautiful smile and captivating eyes. Her hearing is excellent and she smiles every time she sees familiar faces or hears familiar voices. Loves to see and listen to birds and doggies barking or playing near her. She does understand certain things and communicates as she’s able to. I can’t imagine my life without her.
This is why as her mother, I am her voice, her arms, her legs and more to continue seeking any type of advanced and innovative medical treatments or clinical protocols for treating Cerebral Palsy and HIE affecting my child.
Thank You so much from the bottom of my heart for your donation as it will aid in further advancing Katalyna’s neurological development to be as close as she can to a healthy child as possible someday. ❤️
