Help Kat Chavis Heal After a Devastating Accident
Donation protected
On September 3rd, my mom’s life flipped upside down. My mom, Kat Chavis, was riding on the back of a motorcycle that was involved in a devastating accident when she was hit by an SUV that failed to yield correctly. She was rushed to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois, where doctors diagnosed her with a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) with several brain bleeds, contusions, and severe swelling that needed surgical intervention. Along with the damage to her brain, she fractured her hip and pelvis. Since the accident, she has been in the surgical ICU and neuro ICU, undergone multiple critical surgeries, and spent 4 very long weeks in a coma.
Although she has opened her eyes, she remains in the ICU, on a ventilator, and unable to speak or move. My mom faces a long, challenging road to recovery, and it is uncertain how long it will take for her to regain her ability to communicate, move, and live independently. She will require extensive rehabilitation, specialized care, and a lot of support and love.
My family is doing everything we can to support her and her recovery. With the mounting medical bills, rehabilitation costs, and the long-term care she requires, we are finally seeking help to give her the best chance at recovery. Your donations will go directly toward her medical expenses and the therapies she needs to have the best outcome.
We deeply appreciate any support you can provide, whether it’s donating, sharing this page, or keeping her in your thoughts and prayers. Any little bit helps. We are hopeful that, with time, love, and the right care, my mom will regain her strength and be able to live a fulfilling life again.
Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness during this extremely difficult time.
