JOCELYN SHAWYER (CARR)
Urgent Brain Tumor Surgery Needed
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters,
We’re writing to you with urgency and hope in our hearts, to ask for your help for
someone who means the world to us — our beloved Jocelyn — a devoted wife, a
loving stepmother, a caring daughter and sister, and a true friend to so many.
Jocelyn has been diagnosed with a pituitary brain tumor. Normally these tumors are benign and slow growing, but in this case her tumor is causing atypical symptoms; growing into her cavernous sinus and close to her optic nerve. It has also eroded the surrounding bone and wrapped around her carotid artery. She is suffering from extreme headaches with nerve pain and numbness in her face. Yet she remains full of positivity, hope, and happiness just as you would expect to see from her.
Why We're Asking for Help
The UK’s NHS(National Heath Services) is a wonderful system, and she is so grateful to live in a country where universal healthcare is available. However, due to severe overload in her local area, Jocelyn has been pushed down the priority list, as even more critical cases take precedence. After exhausting all options through the NHS, we've had to make the difficult decision to pursue private surgery, which can happen within 2 weeks— but at a significant cost we cannot cover alone.
How You Can Help Support
The estimated cost of the surgery to remove the majority of the tumor and the
radiotherapy post surgery is £60,000. We are now turning to the people who know and love Jocelyn, and even to those who may not know her personally but feel moved to help. We are asking for your support through a donation, no matter how big or small, a simple share of this page, or sending your prayers and positive thoughts. Jocelyn has given so much of herself to others throughout her life. Please help us bring her safely through this.
With love and deepest sincere gratitude,
Her husband Chris, stepson Brayden, mother Pam, siblings Ben, Abby, and Brian and her close friends
