Donate for Jax's Seizure Alert Service Dog
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Laura, and I’m raising funds for my 5 year old son, Jax, who has epilepsy. His seizures occur while he sleeps, which makes nighttime incredibly scary.
I’ve invested in medical monitors, but they only alert us after a seizure has been going on for several minutes, because his convulsions are subtle, and mostly in his face/ throat, they only trigger alarms once his oxygen saturation drops. That delay is incredibly scary for me, and makes it incredibly hard for me to rest without fear of what could happen.
A seizure alert service dog could be life changing for us. These dogs are specially trained to detect seizures as soon as they happen, sometimes before they even occur, and before most medical devices do. They are trained to alert me immediately when a seizure is occurring, allowing me and Jax to feel more at peace while he sleeps.
The cost for a seizure alert dog with the training program that has reached out to me is $25,000, which is expected to be paid over the course of a year. Im currently working full time, but I am also halfway through a school program, which makes it it difficult for me to work additional hours or to work another job to fund these costs. His insurance, medical costs, as well as the time I have had to take off of work for emergency room visits and hospital visits have already created a financial strain for me and it is not feasible for me to obtain the 25,000 necessary within a year without help.
This service dog would give us faster seizure response time, more accurate information regarding his seizures and when to give his emergency medications, peace of mind regarding Jax’s safety, and a better nights rest for myself, Jax, and his older brother.
Please consider donating or sharing our fundraiser. Every dollar or share helps us get one step closer to safety, rest, and hope.
With gratitude,
Laura
