Hi everyone! I have started a GoFundMe for my sister-in-law, Heather Humphrey!
She had a spinal cord stimulator put in a number of years ago that allowed her to walk almost as well as she used to. But she contracted MRSA during the surgery. She went back in and had a clean-out surgery, but they could not guarantee it was all out unless they took the stimulator back out. The other solution was to keep it in but be on antibiotics for the rest of her life, which was the decision that was made.
Fast forward to about 2 months ago. Heather was having a ton of pain in her right hip, and we went to see a doctor about getting it replaced. We were not prepared for the doctor telling us that the MRSA had come back with a vengeance and had actually eaten away almost the whole top of her femur and also her hip joint and was also eating away her pelvis. The pain was the shards rubbing against each other.
Her surgery on Tuesday is a last-ditch surgery to try and save her leg. It's called a Girdlestone Resection Arthroplasty, where they are cutting out all the infected bone and tissue and filling in with antibiotic cement. If all goes well and in 3 months she is not showing an infection, they are going to try to do a hip replacement 3 months after that. We ended up having the stimulator taken out this past Monday just to be safe.
So she definitely needs those prayers for surgery this Tuesday. She is in desperate need of a wheelchair ramp, wheel chair, And help with medical expenses. So she will be able to get out of rehabilitation after her surgery this Tuesday. Any amount anyone can donate would be greatly appreciated. Could you also share this with your friends? Thank you so much!
