Amputation or Euthanasia: Help Save Gurl's Life
Donation protected
Gurl came to live with me shortly after my dad passed. She and her human mom, Kira Jo, had been staying on my dad's couch. When he passed, she was struggling to find a room for rent that would let her bring Gurl. Gurl moved in with me while Kira found housing.

Having Gurl with me helped me to keep my head above water as I worked through the initial stages of grief. She got me out of the house, made sure I was home on time every night, and was the emotional support I needed while I worked through suicidal ideation. When Kira Jo was ready, Gurl returned to her but still visited me regularly.
4 years later Kira Jo is housed, has full custody of her 2 boys, and is 4 years sober. She works 2 jobs (one as a coach for a kid's soccer team) and is a champion in her sober softball league. We are both considered low-income.

Recently, Gurl started limping. Imagining confirmed bone cancer. Amputation was not a financial option, and we were informed that she'd likely die in a matter of months. We opted for palliative care.
However, 9 months later, Gurl is still kickin' it -- albeit a little loopy from the medications -- and enjoying life the best that she can. Imaging has shown that the cancer has not spread to other areas.
After further vet discussions and a 2nd opinion, it's been determined that if we don't amputate, the pain will likely kill her before the cancer has an opportunity to spread (assuming it will at all). We've entered the stage of care where the pain caused by the leg is the biggest threat to her life.

Gurl has been living as a quasi-tripod for quite some time, and she is a viable candidate for amputation. She has shown us that she is not ready to give up yet, and we want to save her life the way that she has saved ours.
If preferred, you can contact her vet directly to contribute to the cost of the amputation. Her vet is Renton Highlands Pet Clinic and their phone number is (425) [phone redacted].
