I wanted to share a post to help answer some of the questions we’ve been getting about the bake sale Ashley is doing for our daughter, Dakota. Many of you know that Dakota was diagnosed with Chiari malformation back in 2016. She’s had seasons where her symptoms were manageable, and we were grateful for every one of those years. Unfortunately, things have recently gotten much worse. She has tried every treatment option available, but the pain has become more than she can live with day to day.

She has pushed through it for so long, but at this point, surgery is the only path forward. Having gone through this same procedure myself, I know firsthand how difficult it is, and I want nothing more than to be there with her every step of the way. Our family is trying to travel from Texas to South Carolina so that her dad, siblings, and I can be with her during the surgery and throughout the beginning of her recovery.

We’ve set up this GoFundMe to help with travel expenses, medical costs related to the surgery, and the physical therapy she’ll need as she heals going into the new year. If you know Dakota, you know she is usually the one stepping up to help others, so asking for help for her is not something that comes easily. But right now, she truly needs the support.

I also know this is happening right in the middle of the holiday season. Please do not feel pressured in any way. If you’re unable to donate, we completely understand. Your prayers, messages, shares, and love mean more to us than anything money can buy.
