Donate for Chase Ryan Cruz's Medical Journey

Hello Family and Friends,

We are writing this with a pleading heart on behalf of Matt Cruz and Anysha Martinez for our Nephew Chase Ryan Cruz.

On July 2nd 2024 Chase was at daycare when he was found to be unresponsive during nap time. He was rushed to the Children's hospital in Edinburg and the doctor there said Chase experienced a seizure. Matt and Anysha pleaded with the doctor to run test when he simply stated to them that the first one is a freebie if it happens again then we will worry. He was discharged and still not feeling like himself. For the next few days he was experiencing headaches and vomiting and still not looking like himself. During one moment he had an outburst that his head was in excruciating pain and began yelling uncontrollably. His parents took him to Driscoll at Renaissance, where he was diagnosed with a migraine. Knowing deep down this was not the answer Matt and Anysha pleaded with the doctors asking to run tests and they then admitted him that night and later transferred him to Corpus Christi because they have a neurologist on staff there. This was only the beginning of what would be some tough days coming for the family. Finally a doctor that would listen and try to figure it out. MRIs, CTs, blood test, spinal tabs, EEGs and waiting for results...and we've finally been given some possible outcomes. Encephalitis (viral or bacterial), Auto-immune Encephalitis, or Epilepsy. As we continue to wait for answers Matt and Anysha have had to take time off work in order to care for Chase. The doctor mentioned that the road to recovery will be long and difficult. Once there is a diagnosis he will be needing therapies (speech, physical and occupational) in order to get back to where he was before.
