Donate for Charlie Mock's Leg Lengthening

Hello! My name is Charlie Mock. I have a Rare Bone Disease called Multiple Hereditary Exostoses (MHE). A rare disease is classified as a disease that affects a small population. Growing up in rural Arkansas with a rare disease felt isolating but I have had the amazing opportunity to receive treatment. I was diagnosed with a chondroma (benign bone tumor) at the age of 5, that diagnosis expanded as one tumor turned into a hundred. This disease has been extremely painful and physically limiting. When I was 13 I had my first surgery to remove a tumor on my wrist. That tumor was making it hard for me to write as the pressure was impinging on my nerve. Since the age of 13, I have had 20 MHE-related surgeries. All of the surgeries were to remove tumors, improve nerve functioning, and straighten deformities this disease had caused. I have undergone physical therapy seven times and learned how to walk again twice. I have used crutches, a walker, and a wheelchair during my recovery process. In 2023, I heard about a life-changing medical facility, Paley Institute. All my life I had received care in Arkansas, but this place was located in Flordia. The Doctors at Paley Institue told me I could live without chronic impinging pain. With lots of prayers, we went down to Flordia for a consultation. It has truly been life-changing! In my first surgery in Florida, the doctor removed 20 chondromas in one go, and I ultimately felt relief. In Arkansas, they weren't skilled in my disease and would only remove one tumor at a time, making the scar tissue and recovery process that much harder. I have been so blessed to receive care in Florida by an amazing specialized medical team thus far. In June of 2025, I am supposed to have my last major surgery. This time my left femur will be lengthened 3 cm (1 Inch). The problem is, I have to stay in Florida for 6 weeks while my leg is being lengthened. I want to have the ability to walk with even legs and have the mobility that I have been fighting for. If you feel led to give, know that your funds will be going to our travel expenses like gas and our stay at the amazing Quantum House. (Learn more about Quantum House by looking them up, they are awesome!) Thank you!!
