After successfully recovering from his first TPLO surgery and participating and progressing incredibly well in hydrotherapy, Charlie has unfortunately severely injured himself once again. He has torn his CCL in his other knee now while out on a walk with his best doggy friend. His surgery is booked for October 14th. I have until then to raise the funds for his surgery. Surgery is imminent before his joints get any worse from his other pre-existing conditions. The cost of this second surgery is estimated at $5000. We have not yet reached our total goal of $10000 to cover the cost of both surgeries.
I have already been working as much as I possibly can to save up for his surgery, but unfortunately I am not in a good enough financial position to manage these costs on my own. Charlie is my whole wide world and the best damn dog I could ever ask for. Please read our story and donate, share, send good thoughts, intentions, and prayers our way. We need all of the help we can get. We raised the funds once, I know that we can do it again!

Charlie has severely injured himself out on a walk with one of our beloved dog friends. He was so excited to run around in the grass, but unfortunately, he has torn his CCL in his knee and requires surgery. His surgery is booked for April 13th.
Since the injury he has been in pain and unable to put any pressure on his leg. It is incredibly disheartening to watch him struggle on three legs; he cannot even get out of bed or up the stairs on his own. The surgery is costly, and I am a full-time student, finishing a diploma program in Classroom and Community Support before I apply for jobs as a Community Support Worker locally and as an Education Assistant in the local school districts.
I live independently and do not have any financial support from my family. I am currently relying on student loans and part-time dog walking and dog sitting to get me through school. The surgery is costly and estimated at roughly $5000. Post surgery rehabilitation is also another cost I am looking at and so there may be additional costs and procedures to come. Unfortunately, the surgery is necessary for Charlie to walk normally again before he hurts his other leg too, as the other one is already deteriorating in the hip joint.
I am asking for help with these procedures. Charlie is the best dog I could ever ask for, and he deserves the whole world of love and care.
Any little bit helps; if not, please share this with as many people as possible! I appreciate it all so much more than words can express.
Our Story:

If you know me then you'll know that my Charlie bear is my whole world. The circumstances that brought us together are beyond fathomable explanation. My mom passed away in April 2010, and I didn’t know this when I adopted Charlie, but he was born on the anniversary of when my mom passed, six years later. I believe this to be more than just a mere coincidence, that he came to me in this life to protect and guide me. At my worst, when I’m struggling with my mental health, he is my raisons d’être, my reason for living, breathing, and getting out of bed. When I’m at my best he is the ultimate companion and adventure buddy. I love to take him out camping, hiking, biking, and swimming. When we’re not doing one of these things, we’re out on one of our daily walks, as I have been dedicated from day one to giving him the best life possible.
Four years ago, I decided to quit my full-time job at Starbucks to drive across Canada, camping the whole way to Halifax and back. The only problem was that I didn’t want to go alone, and I had no one willing to embark on this journey with me. My grandmother suggested I adopt her friend’s dog, whom she did not have the time or resources to care for. He was left alone a lot in his previous life or with the owner’s daughter, who did not care for him. He was two years old when I met him, and there was an instant bond between us, like we had known one another all our lives. It took us three months, but we embarked on a journey of a lifetime together that I will always cherish fondly as one of the best and most amazing things I have ever done. I learned a lot about myself and what I am capable of, and I had the best companion to share in all the memories with. He's been everywhere with me from dipping our toes in the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific and everywhere in between, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
