Most of you who are reading this know me, and some of you just know of me. Some of you already know this story, and for some of you, this will be the first time even hearing about it.
On August 17th, I was admitted to Greenville Memorial Hospital for a bacterial infection called necrotizing fasciitis in my right forearm. Don't worry, I didn't know what it meant either! Basically, it's a flesh-eating bacteria that would have continued up my arm and eventually caused fatality. The doctors had no qualms about telling me that my life was at risk at that very moment. So, I do consider myself blessed to have walked away with my life. My right arm was not quite so lucky! On August 24th, they amputated my right arm above the elbow.
I think most of us have experienced life to some degree to be able to understand how quickly life can change in just an instant. I was right-handed, so there's going to be a learning curve of just trying to perform such simple tasks that I once took for granted. I have most recently moved to Loxley, Alabama, and I'm being cared for by my mom, my Aunt Brenda, and my Uncle Greg. I'm grateful that I have a roof over my head and food to eat. However, this financial burden is too much for even them to bear alone. I still have many trials ahead and haven't really even started the prosthesis process just yet. That's what brings me to here. I thought it might be best to ask for a little something from a lot of people instead of a lot of something from just a little bit of people. If you can't help, trust me, no one understands more than I. If you can and do, well, I'm so grateful for you. I must say what I'm most thankful for throughout this entire process is all the prayers and love. God writes the story; this chapter may be over, but the book isn't closed.
-Much Love
