Donate for a grave stone for Alex Rybotchkine

As many of you know, our friend and former club member Alex Rybotchkine passed away suddenly in the spring of last year. Many of you turned out to the memorial we had at the club. Alex lived alone, and had no family members in Canada. Sadly, this means that he was eventually buried by the City of Toronto in an unmarked grave. His grave is at Thornton Cemetery in Oshawa and at the moment it only has a number – no name, among other unmarked graves. This is heartbreaking.

I am asking you to contribute to the cost of a stone grave marker so that Alex will not be forgotten!

I have obtained a quote from a monument maker approved by the cemetery (Stafford Monuments), and have received an approval from the cemetery itself to place the stone.

The total cost with the cemetery installation and HST is $960.50. The cemetery will care for the stone in perpetuity.

This cost includes the granite stone itself, which will be 16x10 inches, $600+HST for the marker, and $50+HST for the delivery (the monument maker kindly reduced the delivery fee by about $150 in view of the circumstances), and 200+HST from the cemetery. There are some slightly cheaper monument makers but with the discount on the delivery costs, this is the best deal I could find.

Alex Rybotchkine was a dear friend to many of us, his passing was a loss for J-town. Let us see to it that his resting place is not lost and forgotten.
