Gator and his brother Ludacris were born on February 13th 2025 and we welcomed them to our family at the end of May! They are only about 8 months old but they have stolen our hearts!
Starting in July, Gator got his first round of aspiration pneumonia and that really started us on a journey of getting his health back on track. In his short little life he has had aspiration pneumonia three separate times.
Because he has struggled with his lungs, his medical teams are trying to find a hiatal hernia in his digestive track. This causes him to throw up, aspirate and develop pneumonia. We have had many medical exams with his primary vet, and even been seeing an internal medicine veterinary specialist. They have done many, expensive tests to try to diagnose a problem but have turned out unsuccessful and have not been able to pinpoint where his hernia is.
Every time his hernia makes him throw up or aspirate he runs the risk of developing pneumonia, which is very dangerous.
Our Gator boy is still very sick so we have been recommended to a new, more thorough internal medicine veterinary specialist. We are very hopeful that when he sees the new specialist, they will be able to diagnose a problem so we can get him the surgery he needs and will be able to get back to his normal, sweet, loving and playful Gator boy!
We have already spent quite a lot of money on his medical testing to diagnose his issue. Now in seeing a new specialist, we have some more big bills for more diagnostic and surgery coming our way and it is getting difficult to keep up.
Gator has pet insurance but unfortunately they have denied his claims because they state that “being a French bulldog” is its own preexisting condition for aspiration pneumonia, thus nothing is covered.
I have a really hard time asking other people for help. But right now I am needing to put my own pride aside to help my baby Gator get the help he needs.
Thank you so much for reading this far and for your willingness to help us with his medical expenses. Your help means the world to us.
