Donate Additional Funds for Kevin W. Sloan Park

Hello, this is Diane Sloan, CEO for Kevin Sloan Studio, and Matt Stubbs, Managing Principal for Kevin Sloan Studio. Since Kevin Sloan's passing we have had numerous inquiries on if there was something people could donate to in order to honor and celebrate Kevin's life. Well, we recently were able to honor Kevin by naming the park that will be created by the removal of the Jefferson / 12th connector street after him, which will be known as "Kevin W. Sloan Park".

Kevin designed the park himself and was an advocate for the street's removal as a member of the community. The park is also a short walk from Kevin and Diane's home in Oak Cliff where they have lived as members of the Winnetka Heights Neighborhood for many years. Kevin Sloan Studio is also located very near to the Park's location in the store front of the historic Kessler Theater.

The park will be constructed once the roadway has been removed, which may begin sometime in early 2022. There are current funds available in the project budget for an initial phase of the Park. This will go mostly towards Trees, landscape and sidewalks. However, since such a strong interest has arisen for people wanting to celebrate / honor Kevin, we could think of no better place for those donations to go towards than to make the Park even better than what is currently planned in this initial phase.

We don't currently have a list of specific items the additional funds would go towards at this time but some options being considered are: Additional Trees, Benches, Enhanced Landscaping, Park Lighting or an Enhanced Park Sign. We will definitely provide updates as we go along to everyone who donates.
