Donald Evans Accident Recovery Fund

Love this man of mine so very much !!! Please keep him in your prayers as he had a major accident on the morning of June 20, 2020.   While traveling home from work,  which he delivers frozen food between TX and OK, he had gone over a bridge and dropped approximately 30 ft into a creek below.

By the grace of God, Donald was wearing his seat belt and with the assistance of others, was pulled from the tractor and verbally was able to provide his contact info before  he was able to walk and leave the scene via an ambulance.

He has lucky in that he didn’t break or fracture anything !!!  However he did have a concussion, a gash on his forward requiring stitches and a bleed on his brain.  During the MRI, the doctors discovered that he has a tumor on his pituitary gland (below the brain and above the nasal passages).

Donald was able to be released on Sunday, June 21 since the bleed on his brain had been dissolved and appointments for follow up were in place to evaluate the tumor and remove stitches at a later date and time.

As of November of 2010, Donald was initially diagnosed with lung cancer and since then it's metastasized to his liver and bones.  For the last few years,  he's  been having more pain involving his bone cancer and is currently undergoing radiation treatment  to have a better quality of life.  There's a genetic gene that he and his brothers have, that have made them all predisposed to  their various condition.

On the afternoon of June 24, 2020 we rushed him back to the ER as Donald was exhibiting signs of confusion and slurred speech.  I was fearful that he was having a  stroke and or seizure with his body having so many issues going on.  They performed some testing and another MRI, which the results came back negative.  Which they released us and thought that since he's been through such a traumatic event, that his body is just exhausted and needed rest.

While resting at home on Friday evening of June 26, Donald’s Oncology team had heard of the accident and reached out to check in on us.  With in an hour, they  called to follow up  and wanted us to come in ASAP since they said that he shouldn't still have bouts of confusion and slurred speech.   They also confirmed the scans showed no new bleed and blood work was normal.  Also the pituitary mass isn’t pressing on any nerves to cause further issues. They decided to admit Donald to administer fluids (dehydrated some) and have further tests to determine the cause.

On Saturday, Donald did seem more alert and was seen by Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy and did great.  The physicians continued running test and x-rays to narrow down what might be the cause.  Specialist from Neurology and  Endocrinologist kept popping in check in on him.

Donald regressed on the morning of Sunday, June 28 and became non responsive verbally and wasn’t able to focus when being addressed and had diminished strength in his arms and legs.  They performed several tests including an additional MRI of the brain to make sure things hadn't changed and they scheduled him to have a EEG to measure his brain wave activity over the course of 24 hrs.

The morning of Monday, 6/29 Donald had turned a corner for the good !!!!  The EEG up to this point didn't show signs of seizure activity.  Also it was discovered that he had high ammonia levels.  With his history of liver cancer, it wasn't uncommon that the liver wasn't clearing properly, making himself toxic.  Once this had been discovered, they administered some medicine to get within a normal range.  This was HUGE since with in a few hours he was more alert and able to reply back to simple questions.

Donald has always been the breadwinner for his family and with being self employed, we're not certain as to when or if we'll be able to  return in the same  capacity he's known and loved.

Any contributions will be used for his ongoing care of Physical / Occupational and Speech Therapy.  In addition to mortgages, health insurance, medical bills, etc..
that keep coming regardless if your working or not.

I do intend to enlist the service of veterans groups  to see what he may be eligible for with being a veteran of the Marine Corp, which he served active duty during
Operation Desert Storm in the early 90's

Please pray for healing, strength and understanding as we work to move forward and what the might  look like for him.

Psalm 30:2-3
LORD my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me. O LORD, You brought my soul up from the grave; You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
