The legend of Donald

We are coming together in honour of our awesome friend Donald by supporting Rachel and Waylon in this difficult time of adjustment.

Donald was a lot of things, to a lot of people. For those who worked with him in Berlin's hospitality scene, he was a source of infectious laughter, providing an unforgettable atmosphere for staff and guests alike. For fellow adventurers who were lucky enough to join one of his legendary tours through Amsterdam or Berlin, he was fascinating, hilarious and inspiring. For enthusiasts who got to know him in the craft beer scene, he was passionate and famous for fostering a sense of camaraderie. To his parents, Kevin and Jane, he radiated sweetness and kindness. They held immense pride in the privilege of calling him their son. To his younger sister, Krystle, he was a great big brother. Fiercely protective and forever supportive. To Rachel, he was her best friend for over a decade and the father to their son, Waylon. And to all of the friends he made across the world, he was warmth, compassion, intelligence, creativity and adventure personified.

His most important, and most enduring role though, was as Waylon's Dad. He was the tour guide through their long walks and epic adventures, with a knack for turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. He was a constant reminder of the importance of curiosity, wonder, laughter and love. His time with Waylon was cut far too short, but the sense of wonder he instilled in his son will last a lifetime.

Your financial donations will support Rachel in the immediate term, helping with the financial costs associated with laying Donald to rest and celebrating his life. In the longer term, your donations will go to Waylon's after-school care and activities. This practical assistance will ensure that Rachel, as a working mother, can invest every available minute into spending quality time with her and Donald's much-treasured son.

In the coming weeks, we will hold TWO Celebrations of Life; one in Berlin on Oct 14th and one in Mission, BC on Oct 21st. Both will have the option to join virtually.
