Donald and Penny’s medical and funeral expenses
I am setting this fundraiser up with Debbie Leabo-King, a long time friend of Donald and Penny Hill, in their name.
I’ll do my best to make this story brief.
Over the last 10 years, this family has met their share of trials, but they managed through. Don and Penny’s son, Kyle was reported missing towards the end of 2019. Don was ill needing multiple hospitalizations over the years that ultimately led to a liver transplant in 2020. The family’s faith only grew stronger after he defeated the 2% odds of surviving the operation! They continued to hold hope for their son and Don took the knowledge he gained through his medical experience to try to help others in the same situation.
It wasn’t until the most recent months that things began to really pile up, leaving them emotionally and financially drained. Don’s kidneys began to fail due to the medication he requires for his gifted liver to function properly. He is currently in stage 3 of kidney failure hoping for the best, but his health has left him disabled and on a fixed income. He knew before the operation this was a possibility, but did not have any other options. Penny, his wife, has been working two jobs while taking care of her husband and elderly father. They continued to carry on with these stressors that had become part of their daily living and praying things would come together. They have sold things to try to keep up with the bills on top of Penny working overtime, but it’s getting to be too much and the banks are calling.
In the beginning of June, Donald and Penny’s son was found. They believe he passed away after an accident that occurred when he went missing. One month after the tragic news of their sons death, and just before they picked up their sons headstone, their daughter passed away. They went to pick up their sons headstone and had to tell them they needed another headstone for their daughter. Penny traveled to her memorial services out of state, but had to quickly return to work as she is out of benefit time. They have an upcoming memorial service for her here with burial. The family has needs for travel and funeral expenses for both of their children, Kyle and Andrea, at this time. With any hope, maybe enough could be raised so Penny can take some time to grieve. While I was talking with Donald, he expressed so much concern over Penny’s burden she carries, praying she stays healthy herself through this. Any little bit would help this family through this tragic year. Thank you for taking the time to hear their story. Feel free to share and keep them in prayer.
