Yesterday in ALAMOSA, CO a young man was violently detained and taken at gunpoint by ICE. Mind you this man’s newborn infant son and newly postpartum wife were also in the vehicle.
Do we still want to pretend that “they’re only taking criminals”? Do you still want to act like they’re not treating them immorally?
This man worked daily to provide for his family. He has NO CRIMINAL HISTORY. This man has lived here for 15 years.
3 cars followed them around town until ICE had the opportunity to block them in. Once they blocked the family in, they turned on lights and sirens and exited the vehicle and drew their weapons. The detainee did not do anything to provoke this response other than be on their radar for being illegal. Is this behavior justified just because the person is illegal? VIOLENT CRIMINALS ARE TREATED WITH MORE DIGNITY AND RESPECT. The officer even asked the young Mother “if she was a beaner too”.
There are way better ways to tackle the immigration issue and violence and ripping families apart will NEVER solve the issue. Violence is not the answer. Hatred is not the answer. This young man is this very young families main source of income. Now this young mom is going to have to find a way to make ends meet on her. The family has hired a lawyer and are working diligently to get more answers on to how and why this happened.
Look forward to watching the video on the news in the coming week.
Prayers for Jose and his family
To those who want to turn a blind eye, just because he is illegal. If you believe that this kind of behavior is justified just to take care of “the illegals” kindly remove yourself from my friends list. I strongly believe that there are more humane ways to treat a HUMAN being and certainly more humane ways to detain. This is happening daily to thousands of people across the U.S. it’s the violence and hatred that outrages me. This is DISGUSTING. The mother is tagged in this post! Please share and do everything you can to support this family during this time!
