My name is Lety Olvera, and today I am reaching out with deep sincerity and hope.

When I was just 22 months old, I underwent open heart surgery performed by Dr. Denton Cooley to correct a congenital condition called Tetralogy of Fallot. That surgery gave me the gift of life, and I have cherished every moment since.

Thanks to that second chance, I have been able to live a meaningful life filled with purpose and love. As a psychologist and an active member of the school community, I have always devoted myself to the wellbeing of others, especially children. Supporting students of all ages through after-school programs, academic enrichment, creativity projects and field trips has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my life. I have always made sure every activity was carried out with the highest standards of safety and care. Helping young minds grow and thrive truly brings me joy.

But now, I find myself facing a new challenge.

I have been diagnosed with severe pulmonary insufficiency and moderate pulmonary stenosis. These heart complications leave me tired, short of breath, and struggling to keep up with daily life. After many medical evaluations, my doctors have told me that I need a pulmonary valve replacement.

While my life is not in immediate danger, this condition makes everyday activities increasingly difficult, and the surgery is essential to prevent further complications.

Sadly, my insurance does not cover the cost of the biological valve, the operation itself, or the recovery process. The total estimated cost is 1,000,000 Mexican pesos, which is approximately 50,000 US dollars or 70,000 Canadian dollars.

This is why I am asking for your help today.

Soy Lety Olvera y hoy necesito tu ayuda desde lo más profundo de mi corazón.

A los 22 meses de edad, el Dr. Denton Cooley me realizó una cirugía a corazón abierto por un defecto congénito llamado Tetralogía de Fallot (TOF). Esa cirugía me dio el regalo de la vida, y desde entonces he valorado cada momento.

Gracias a esa segunda oportunidad, he podido vivir una vida llena de sentido, propósito y amor. Como psicóloga y miembro activo de la comunidad escolar, siempre me he dedicado al bienestar de los demás, especialmente de los niños y jóvenes. Apoyar a estudiantes de todas las edades a través de programas después de la escuela, actividades académicas, proyectos creativos y viajes ha sido una de las partes más gratificantes de mi vida. Ayudar a las mentes jóvenes a crecer y prosperar realmente me llena de alegría.

Pero ahora, me enfrento a un nuevo desafío.

Me han diagnosticado dos nuevas complicaciones: Insuficiencia pulmonar severa y estenosis pulmonar moderada. Vivo con fatiga, dificultad para respirar y poca energía. Los médicos han decidido que necesito un reemplazo de válvula pulmonar para seguir adelante.

Aunque mi vida no está en peligro inmediato, esta condición hace que las actividades diarias sean cada vez más difíciles, y la cirugía es esencial para prevenir complicaciones mayores.

Mi seguro no cubre ni la válvula ni la cirugía ni la recuperación, por eso recurro a ti.
