Don Kelly suffered a heart attack on September 7th, 2019. He has been in a medically induced coma since then. His wife found him and gave him CPR, saving his life, until the medics arrived. Don's immediate surgery allowed a stint to be put in and remove the blockage. It was successful. No damage was done to the heart, however, he had seizures when bringing him off the anesthesia, so he has been in a medically induced coma since then in the Intensive Care Unit.
Many challenges have arisen. Don has a breathing tube. It was removed for several days until congestion caused trouble and he began to go downhill again, nearly flatlining. He has had pneumonia, fevers, congestion, low blood pressure and infection in his throat.
The family has had to travel from Anacortes to Seattle frequently, staying at his side. The Dr.'s are now attempting to take him off the seizure medications very slowly. He showed positive signs, until he nose-dived.
Don and Rhonda no longer have an income. He is not expected to work again. Medical bills are stacking up, along with other needs. Don will likely be sent to a nursing home when he is alert and stable for ongoing rehab therapy. Don and Rhonda have been stuck together at the hip since high school. He is only 62 and a lively, fun-loving, great guy, with 4 grown children and grandkids. They need help and will likely need it for a time, not only for medical expenses, but household bills, mortgage, food and gas.
Please open your heart to this wonderful family going through a very rough time and give any amount to assist them as they walk through this difficult journey. Every little bit is appreciated!
