Don Humphries Cancer & Home Fund

Well, our buddy Don Humphries has prostate cancer which has spread throughout his body. He is currently being evicted from the house he's been living in for the last 15 years because his landlady wants to put her family in the house (is your stomach churning? Mine is.) Don needs emergency funds to find a home to rent. His daughter is going to be living with him and taking care of him, so he needs a two bedroom home. You may not know who Don is, but you've heard his songs on the radio, at festivals, at venues. His songs have been covered by Del McCoury, Patty Loveless, the Nashville Bluegrass Band, etc. Years ago I was at Merle Fest when I heard a band, I believe it was the String Cheese Incident, covering Don's "The Black Bird & the Crows," then I heard another band covering "Eli Renfro," then I heard one of Don's tunes blasting over the radio speakers. I called Don, who couldn't afford a ticket to the festival, and said, "Don! I don't think they could have had this festival without you!" He said something like, "well that's great. I can't afford a ticket. Tell em' I said hey." And that's about how much grammy award winning songwriters get paid (in case you guys were wondering.) Now all of this being said; Don, being Don, still has his sense of humor about his dark and dire misfortune. A few weeks ago he & I wrote a hilarious song about cancer . . . . . the punch line being "there's something about biopsy . . . . . that rhymes with autopsyyyyyy!" and I'm pretty sure he's gonna go out laughing. I'll be the one crying. Can you guys please please give Don a hand? I know most people reading this are musicians and don't have much cash, but any little bit helps for sure. A chicken sandwich. A bojangles biscuit. A pack of D'Addarios. Anything and everything is soooo appreciated! Thank you!!!
