Just two weeks ago my wife and I were just living life. Feeling slightly under the weather, thinking it was just a cold getting me down , I went to my PCP for an exam. Within a few minutes of the start of the exam my doctor was ordering a battery of tests and telling us that she was very concerned about me. Twenty four hours later I found myself in a hospital Emergency Room and being told that I was experiencing total renal failure and heart failure.
It's been two weeks now and several dialysis treatments later. I am feeling much better, however, I must continue with my treatments or risk falling right back into the same condition I was in two weeks ago.
As anyone might expect, the hospital bills and expenses are mounting at a rate we can't keep up with and my release from the hospital is being delayed to ensure that I am able to keep receiving the dialysis and care that I need to survive. There are issues with my insurance and getting approvals for the care I must have. In the meantime, the out patient dialysis clinic require us to pay for the costs out of pocket before the services can be received.
So the purpose of this go fund me account is to help cover the costs of the out patient dialysis treatments until insurance kicks in and can take over covering the costs. Receiving the dialysis treatments three times per week is not optional. They are necessary to sustain life. Typically each treatment runs $12,000-15,000 each and I require 3 per week. The clinic has offered a substantial discount for the treatments, but even with the discount they are unattainable for us without help.
Any help , any amount, that anyone can provide will be so appreciated. My doctor will not release me from the hospital until he is assured that I have the means to receive the out patient dialysis treatments. Please know the need is urgent and we will be responsible with any gifts we receive. One hundred percent of the funds raised will be utilized for medical care and expenses only.
