Help us own an art store!

Hi! My name is Dominique, and I'm trying to raise money to purchase a local art supply business. Ever since I was a child, I have had an affinity for art. Whether music, drawing, or painting, I love spending my time in a creative space. I pursued a degree in graphic design from the Art Institute of Pheonix in Arizona. While there, I held a fantastic job at an architectural art gallery called Cosanti. Life was good until I received news that my father's health had declined. I wanted to be closer to my family, so my (now) husband and I moved back to Louisiana. Thankfully, my father's condition did improve. However, I had difficulty finding creative work in my hometown. I needed any income for the time being, so I applied and obtained a job at Walgreens, where I stayed for ten years. I continued with freelance artwork in my free time, but it was never enough to sustain me financially. I now have an incredible opportunity to finally get back on the creative path I started as a child. It may have taken a long time, but I am thankful for this opportunity!

I want to raise $15,000 to start this new and exciting journey. This will cover the down payment to the current owners, money to start the business' banking account for expenses, and also help cover my loss of income from my current job. My husband will continue his salaried job to continue covering our mortgage and bills. However, our current savings are all but drained after handling debt accrued around hurricane Ida. We're slowly improving but nowhere near the point we'd ever think about buying a business. This opportunity might not have had the best timing, but it feels like it was meant to be and would be a perfect match. I hope we can get the funding secured to start this new adventure.
