Hello All!!!
My name is Dominique Mau-Rowson. I am a 28 year old mother of 1, a 9 year Marine Corps Vet, and now a stage 3 Breast Cancer patient. I am trying to raise money to help off set the cost of my medical bills and other bills associated with my care. So far I am a little over Forty Thousand dollars in medical bills.
A little bit about my journey: I was unexpectedly diagnosed on October 25, 2016. What led up to my to my diagnoses? October 7, 2016, I was sitting in my office and began to have severe chest pains. I waited it out until the following Sunday, where I went to my local hospital. It was there that they found a 3.9 cm mass on my right breast through a Cat Scan with dye. I immediately went to my primary care the next day to get a mammogram and ultrasound. The results came back benign. But the pain was so bad that he knew something was not right, so I then got referred to a General Surgeon. Through the next few weeks, I went in and out of Dr Offices, and went through some painful biopsy's. They even tried to aspirate it. Two days (October 25, 2016) before I was scheduled to have this now, 4.5 cm "benign" mass taken out, I was told that it was Breast Cancer and now we are not talking about a mass.... we are talking about a tumor. Imagine the grief, confusion, anger, shock, and terrifying emotions I felt at that moment. Lucky I had my sister with me. :). Through out the next few months, I went back and forth to MD Anderson, Houston, TX and it is there where I learned that I had Stage 3 Invasive Ductal breast cancer which spread and turned into ER positive breast cancer. By the time I started Chemo (December 23, 2016), my tumor was over 9 cm. So far, I have had a power port surgery and 11 lymph nodes removed. I am on my 7th session of Chemotherapy and I have 17 more sessions to go! Plus 6.5 weeks of Radiation after my big surgery. I will have a Double Mastectomy in late June 2017. This journey has not been easy, it is a complete lifestyle change. I am often very sick from the Chemo and the menopause that I am now in and will be in for the next 10 years due to the type of Cancer I have, and because of me being a single parent on a small income, I have to work everyday. But I thank GOD that I have a job that provides me medical insurance. And I thank him for my healing that I will receive, and I thank him for my family and friends who have been here supporting me through it all! I have been struggling since October of last year on whether I should reach out for help, and I decided to step out on Faith and do it! Whether I reach my goal or not, I am forever grateful!
Any money that I receive will be used for medical bills, travel cost to Houston and back, and my hotel stay to do my second part of Chemo and my 6.5 weeks of Radiation Therapy.
