Recently, the Gamez Family received some devastating news that turned their world upside down. On January 20th, Dominic was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma- a form of pediatric bone cancer.

Dominic is your typical energetic, happy, and full of life 7 year old boy. He’s a 2nd grader at Blackman Elementary. Dominic loves soccer and plays for Murfreesboro Soccer Club. His parents are Ramón & Lessly and aside from working full time jobs, his dad (Coach Ramón) helps at Legacy Premier Futbol Academy where he coaches soccer for his 13 year old brother’s (Dyllan) team.

On Monday, January 13th Dominic started with generalized leg pain that quickly progressed to left knee pain and by Thursday there was noticeable swelling and he had started limping. This all happened within just a matter of days but Lessly acted quickly and took him to his pediatrician. After X-rays and labs, Dominic was immediately sent to Vanderbilt Children's for further testing where in the upcoming days, they would give Lessly and Ramón the absolute worst news a parent could imagine. It was determined that Dominic has a tumor on his left leg (femur) and it is cancer (osteosarcoma).

The doctors are treating aggressively and have put together a plan that will last the next 9-12 months including, biopsies, CT scans, port placement, 6 cycles of intensive chemotherapy (30 weeks), MRI's, bone scans, big surgery for tumor removal with a prosthetic bone placed, physical therapy, multiple hospitalizations, and countless doctor visits but Dominic is so brave and we are ready to fight this!!

Dominic will need his mom by his side throughout this next year which means Lessly will be his primary caregiver and unable to work. Ramón and Lessly are the kindest and the most selfless people you will ever meet. They are always the first ones to step up and lend a helping hand to others around them. Now, it's our turn to help them.

Help us rally around the Gamez family as they face some of the most terrifying & unfathomable weeks and months ahead. By taking some of the financial burden off of Ramón and Lessly, we will allow them to focus on Dominic and Dyllan. The money raised will go towards medical expenses that will quickly add up, weekly trips to Vanderbilt Children's and essentials for their precious family of 4.
