Hospital Medical Equipment Shipment
Donation protected
Hello.
I am Dr. V. Stephen Slana, M.D., ophthalmologist, who has had the pleasure to be part of a group of committed volunteers from Wisconsin on an ongoing medical and surgical mission to Sabana Yegua /Azua , Dominican Republic. I am requesting assistance in funding a forty foot shipping container to be filled with used medical and surgical equipment obtained thru Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach, Springfield, IL, to be donated to the non profit health center Centro DeSalud La Sagrada Familia in Sabana Yegua and the government run public hospital in Azua. The funds will be used exclusively for the acquisition and shipping of this equipment.
Although I am an ophthalmologist, the majority of the items will address needs of the clinic and hospital to care for emergency, obstetric, pediatric, general medical, and surgical patients. This equipment will help to elevate the quality of care provided to these exceedingly gracious indigent patients. The packing of contents of the container will be completed in the next several weeks to then be shipped immediately after (target for shipping by December 1st). I will be personally pre- funding the costs to avoid delay in shipping with the hope of recovering the majority of the container related through the generosity of donors like you.
Our medical mission group will be returning the second week in January. During that time I will be working with Dominican Dr. Genoveva Acosta, M.D., performing eye surgeries on patients with blindness or visual impairment due to cataracts and pterygium. I will also be overseeing the distribution of this shipped equipment to ensure that needs of the patients are met to minimize expense and waste. I have found this opportunity to help serve the needs of our patients in the Dominican Republic to be overwhelmingly rewarding and would like to invite you to become a donor thru you financial support of our shipping container project. I thank you in advance for your generosity to make our efforts possible.
