Dominican Republic Global Health Mission

Hi! My name is Lauren Agostinacchio and I'm a student enrolled in Rush University's Physician Assistant Program. Some of you may remember our very successful efforts to raise money for Chicago's Mercy Home for Boys and Girls during last year's season of giving. This year I have the opportunity to represent the Rush PA program on a global health trip to an underserved community north of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The remote community of Villa Verde has limited access to medical services with the nearest hospital 45 minutes away. While some community members have been fortunate to access these distant medical services, there are extensive gaps in medical education, access to medication, and continuity of basic medical care within Villa Verde. 

While on the global health trip, we will provide primary care services to the community members of Villa Verde, which will include education, medical supplies, preventative medications, and antibiotics. 

On behalf of our program's ongoing efforts to serve disadvantaged communities, I am raising funds to support a medical clinic equipped with education services, supplies, and medication that is self-sustainable after our team has left the community of Villa Verde.
