Dominica Evacuation Flight 2.0
Tax deductible
Ok everyone, here we go again! Back in February I raised over $11,000 with my first gofundme which allowed me to evacuate 43 dogs and 3 cats from Dominica in the eastern Caribbean. All the animals got adopted quickly and the project was a huge success! 5 of the dogs needed amputations due to severe chronic rear leg injuries and after surgery all were quickly adopted. Unfortunately, after the dogs arrived, we discovered that all but 2 dogs were infected with Erhlichia, a terrible tick borne disease. Luckily everyone received treatment and recovered and was able to be adopted into loving homes in Tampa, FL.
Since then, the rescue in Dominica has been inundated with puppies and kittens. They currently have 160 puppies, 42 adult dogs and 28 kittens and cats in need of immediate evacuation. There is a very dire situation on the island where the dogs are being intentionally poisoned with a chemical called gramaxone (also known as paraquat).
For the first evacuation flight, Wings of Rescue sent their small plane, which was appropriate for the number of pets needing evacuation. This time we need to send the larger jet to evacuate all the at-risk animals. I hate to mention this, because it is very distressing, but the locals eat cats and every cat we can evacuate will be saved from certain death.
The puppies are all healthy and ready to go to loving homes immediately upon landing in Tampa. Some of the kittens are bottle babies and will need fosters. Some of the adult dogs will need medical attention and possible fostering. One dog is a
senior long term foster candidate(10+years old). I need everyone’s help! If you can foster bottle baby kittens please reach out. If you can adopt a puppy into your home please reach out. If you can foster an adult dog until a home is found, contact me. If you can donate plastic airline carriers (order from Amazon and ship to me in Tampa) we need those too. I am hoping to evacuate as many dogs and puppies as possible to prevent further poisoning. But there are thousands of street dogs on the island and they have no access to medical care. I am bringing thousands of dollar of veterinary equipment and medications on the empty plane heading down. I already have a digital X-ray machine (donated by GeoVets), two gas anesthesia machines(donated by me), flea and tick meds, heartworm meds, vaccines, heartworm tests, erhlichia tests, antibiotics, anesthetic agents, bandage and splinting material, surgical instruments, orthopedic surgery instruments, wire dog crates, etc , etc.
We have a 1 week window to get these animals off island before I won’t be welcome there anymore. Please help if you can.
Wings of Recscue is a 501c organization and all donations are tax deductible.
Wings of Rescue has transported more than 67,000 animals from disaster zones and high risk shelters all over the world to loving home in the US and Canada since 2012. And when I reached out to them for help, they stepped up immediately. The jet fuel to go to a Dominica and back for the large jet is over $80,000. This is a very big ask of the community, but I am so hopeful!
Please donate if you can! Please adopt if you can! Please share on social media and tell every animal lover you know!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me save these loving animals that deserve better than life has dealt them.

Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit Wings of Rescue, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
More information about Wings of Rescue: No pet should be euthanized because he or she has not found a home, yet in 2018 over 1,600,000 puppies, dogs, kittens and cats died in America's shelters. Wings of Rescue is trying to stop this disturbing practice by flying large scale transports from overcrowded shelters to shelters where our precious cargo is guaranteed safety. We also do disaster relief flights and in 2017 flew 60 flights into the Harvey, Irma & Maria hurricane zones and over 4,500 dogs and cats to safety.
