- I
Hi, I’m Laia Sopeña, professional freediver, instructor, Vice World Champion, and mother to Lea.
This year I want to return to Dominica to compete and continue representing Spain in deep freediving.
My goal is to travel with my daughter, to share this experience with her, and to keep showing that motherhood and high-level sport can coexist with passion, dedication, and balance.
Last year, many people helped me make this dream come true, and I was able to travel to Dominica with the intention of reaching 100 meters depth in competition.
Unfortunately, Iberia ( flight company) lost my luggage with all my diving equipment, and I couldn’t achieve my goal there.
A few months later, in Greece, I finally reached 100 meters under much tougher conditions, with colder water and a thermocline.
This year, I want to go back to Dominica, a place with warm and ideal waters for safe and comfortable dives, to give my best and keep exploring my limits.
In training, I have already reached 108 meters in variable weight, but I still feel that I haven’t reached my limit yet.
Competing there would be a unique opportunity to officially register my performances and continue growing as an athlete.
My current achievements include:
• Vice World Champion in Freediving
• Spanish National Record in competition: 100 meters depth
• 11 National Records in different disciplines
• Static Apnea Personal Best: 6 minutes and 42 seconds
My dream is to continue training, improving, and competing, but this year I don’t have sponsors, and it is very challenging to balance motherhood, work, and high-level training.
That is why I’m reaching out again to this wonderful community that has supported me before.
Every contribution, no matter how small, means a lot. Even 1 € shows that you believe in me and wish to see me there, giving my best.
As a thank you, I can offer:
• Online coaching or breathing sessions
• Yoga and relaxation classes
• Discounts for freediving courses in Tenerife
• Exclusive online workshops or gatherings for supporters of the campaign
This project is not only about sport; it is also deeply human and personal.
It has been more than five years since I last traveled with my daughter, and being able to do it again would be an incredible gift, a journey of growth, learning, and love for the ocean.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support, for sharing, for donating, or simply for believing in me.
The path of freediving is long, but it is built hand in hand, through teamwork and the support of those who make it possible for us to keep diving deeper, into the sea and into ourselves.
