Dominic's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
On August 28, 2019 Dominic was on his normal delivery route when his life was changed in a traumatic way. As you may have heard, he was involved in an accident that resulted in life-changing injuries. Since then, our family has been spending time together encouraging Dominic that this is not the end, but rather the beginning of a new chapter in our lives. Many of you are familiar with Dominic’s initial injury, but it has been very difficult to keep everyone updated with the complexity of Dominic’s accident. His injury is the result of an accident with a semi-truck. Right after the accident occurred, Dominic was able to get himself out of his truck. Running toward him was a good samaritan who had pulled over to help Dominic. This man, who happened to be at the right place at the right time, helped to truly save Dominic’s life. He saw how badly damaged Dominic’s leg was, took off his belt and gave him a tourniquet around his leg to help him stop the bleeding until the paramedics showed up. After the paramedics showed up, they determined that Dominic needed to be air lifted to the nearest trauma unit and he was taken to Sutter Roseville, where he went into immediate surgery to save his leg from the accident. Unfortunately, the doctor had to make a decision and amputate his left leg. In other words, the doctor said it was life, or limb. Dominic had to have two blood transfusions, seven pints each time for a total of 14 pints of blood. The doctor said the man that gave him the tourniquet saved his life and had he not, he could have bled to death. We are thankful for this hero and the blood donors who helped Dominic. Without them, he wouldn’t have made it this far.
At this time we are asking our family and friends to help as Dominic and his family face some challenges. We are doing this GoFundMe to help their family with the financial burden that this brings them. Dominic’s parents are having to take time off of work to help Dominic recover, take him to physical therapy and more. This GoFundMe will help them with grocery bills, house payments, unexpected bills, and more. We have appreciated all that have helped support their family during this time. Any support from our family and friends is helpful. We appreciate sending messages, cards, meals and more. We want to sincerely thank everyone who has been with us since day 1 of this journey and who continues to be with us today.
