Hi my name is Thou Dam I'm a mother of my 3 Dad is San. My oldest is Skiy she is 16 my second is Dominic he is 10 and my youngest is Bella and she is 8. I'm doing this gofund for son Dominic chhun who has been diagnosed with a cancer on the 1may 2022 it's is called Ewing sarcoma cancer bone and soft tissue and its in the spine whear a tuma grew rapidly fast in 3weeks. Its was fast a growing monster that we never knew about that changed his life completely and our family too. We moved from New Zealand to Australia in 2015 to start a new life and loved it and decided to stay for good. We love how it so multie cultural here. We lived here now 8 years and was planning to get our PR this year as work is getting better . Since the pandemic has been hard for us and everyone else. We had such good community support around us. We have worked most of the time that we lived here. I worked in hospitalities and that what I'm good at. I live in marsden Queensland. When my son started getting these back pain numbness to his lower body i spent 6 days going to ED loganlea and GPs for help explaining the symptoms that he had and how long he had for. He was not taken seriously. So I called health line and they actived RYAN'S RULES . We got taken into ermgency whear they did MRI scan and found the tuma was causeing him so much pain that was pressureing into his spinale cord cutting of oxygen and bloods supply to his spinale cord. We got rushed to children Queensland hospital and the doctor there has taken a biopsy to find out what they were dealing with before they new what it was.. he was in pain so much pain that no pain relief could help. He was in that much pain that he called for God to help and I got my on my knees and started praying with my son to calm him down. He had been given morphine to stable him. An emergency operation had be done or I could lose my child. I was told many things that could happend it could be fatal or permanently damaged. So much was goin on so much information but little time to think. In the emergency operation they to remove four of his spine bones that is call the t-bones t3 t4 t5 t6 so that will relieve the pressure of the tuma from damaging his spinale cord which it already done the damaged. The doctors had told us he the cancer name Ewing sarcoma and its curable. The only thing is from the tuma had caused him to be paralise half of his body is not functioning well which mean he can't feel his bowl motions or even and peeing he can not feel his legs or even wiggles his toes. when the doctors had explained what tuma had done and how much damage it effected his spinale cord we were devastated. And when they told my son what had happened to him.. he was so upset and confused Dominic spent 3 and half months in hospital working with the phisyo team to get back his upper body strength and learning to transfer himself while on going chemotherapy treatment . At the moment Dominic is useing a wheelchair that is loand by the hospital as we cannot not afford one even his beds and the supplies that he needs every day care is help by children qld hospital. As they know about our situation and Dominic story and how this happened to him the negligence of GPs and health care went to for help had left Dominic paralise and traumatise. Thankyou children Queensland hospital has been so supportive in helping Dominic get better through his hard time. He is still struggle alot to get get through everyday task its is challenge for him .The hospital had been kind and and help us with a accommodation close to the hospital its called childhood cancer support. Its small unit not much space..but its place we can heal and rest. We we have use up charities through redkyte and the charity kidswith cancer support has been amazing through out our hard times. Unfortunately they can not continue to help. Dominic has just finish his 6 weeks radiation and to get to those appointments we have catch the maxi taxi wheelchair cab which cost alot to travel and he still has ongoing chemotherapy and doctors appointments and phisyo appointments with he still have 6months of chemotherapy treatment to finish.. after chemotherapy he will go into rehabilitation so he can get the support he needs. We don't have a vehicle at the moment. Dominic is learning to transfer from wheelchair into a car that is the same level as his wheelchair at the moment the hospital allows us to practise in their works vehicle. Dominic is learning to use his upper body strength at time can be really challenging for him most of time I have to support his movements just incase he lose balance. For me as mum supporting my son and being by his side and keeping him positive has been imostinally hard what makes harder is not able to provide the things he need to get better and focused on the importance things that will help in the future. I feel so terrible at times that I'm not able to provide the care he needs. We
struggling to keep up with our bills and keep the rent paid as we not getting much help from centerlink as houses rental are so expensive we cant afford anything bigger. Dominic will need alot of help support love and understanding that we care that he is important and that he will have chance to restart his new life and hopefully the chance to walk again and to enjoy life. Through the community and love and around the world with your compation and support to help to donate and help Dominic in this challenging times. He is still going through alot of of tasks that he is finding it hard to deal with. With your help generosity the donations will be going towards a suitable fitting wheel chair and medical expenses and to find a suitable car that we can afford that he can get in and out off independently and to help him gain some control back ..with on going phisyo treatments. We not Australian citizens we are not eligible for any fund or support by the government to help Dominic with his need to get better we are not legible for NDIS or any type of special benefits that can help us. I have tried get help through centerlink but we are only on family tax benefits. I'm really sad and stress for my son he just wants get better and walk again and play like any other 10 year old boys dose.
