Hi, my name is Gabriella. I am the mother to a wonderful 15 year old. Lindsey has always spoken her mind about what she wants to do. And I have always tried to support her the best I can. Unfortunately I was recently let go from my job, and Lindsey has one of the most important days of her life coming up - her Bat-Mitzvah. You might be wondering why she is having it later in life and now, instead of when she was 12 or 13.
That's her story to tell in full one day. But here is what I can say:
She felt it wasn't the right time for her, that she wasn't connected to religion and I didn't pressure her further. I always let her know she could get Bat-mitzvah'd later in life.
Her grandmother Jeanette passed away almost a year ago (she passed on fathers Day/Lindseys 15ths birthday). She had been the mother figure I always wished I could. She taught her to bake, played all the games with her, went to every event, helped with her summer camps, did what she was able and so much more. But with the huge loss of her grandmother, she turned back to G-d and expressed wanting to join Midrasha and have a Bat-mitzvah.
Lindsey's Bat-mitzvah is on 6/22/24, her birthday 6/18/24, and we plan to celebrate the best way we can, with family and friends around her.
With your help, I will be able to cover the costs of her Rabbi studies, rent the social hall for the reception and possibly more.
I am embarrassed to ask, to need help. But I can put that aside to help my child have a wonderful experience.
Thank you all !!!
