Domestic Violence assault paralyzes Gemma - please help

On Wednesday morning, 4/23/25, I was assaulted in a domestic violence situation that resulted in not only my personal injuries, but Gemma being severely injured. My ex partner, picked up Gemma with both hands and threw her at the wall. This has paralyzed her back legs & she has many torn ligaments & joints that have damaged her left leg. She is in dire need for emergency surgery. We have been in the hospital getting X-rays & making sure she is kept as comfortable as possible. She is completely unable to move and may loose the ability to walk for the rest of her life. On Monday, we will be meeting with the surgeon to plan the immediate surgery to save the function of her back left leg so she is not in lifelong agony.

My ex will be charged with felony abuse of an animal, DV & evading personal property as he stole all devices to prevent me from calling the police. He fled the scene like a coward, was arrested and bailed out. We are working on getting the extended restraining order served to prevent him from coming back to the house.

I fear for my safety and my dogs safety. This is a devastating situation and I’m asking for anyone’s help in this matter. It’s one thing to beat on me, but hurt my dogs and its game over.
