Domeng's Medical Expenses
Spende geschützt
Hello,
My name is Jem and I am creating this page for my father. His condition at this moment is not great. Recently his mother (my grandmother) passed away. During this event he suffered a hemorrhagic stroke that caused bleeding in his brain and fluid buildup. Complications during this time can arise and cause him to have seizures and possibly be put in a coma if the bleeding and fluid buildup is not controlled. Therefore, a hospital stay is critically needed. He is hospitalized in the Philippines which is where he is living. Many of you may not know but the health care in my country is not great compared to other countries. Everything is paid for with cash and they will not treat you or test you if you do not have money to provide the hospital. To be honest, it is hard for me to write this right now because I do not like asking for help from other people, especially when it comes to monetary assistance. However, my dad is very important to me and I need help to keep him in the hospital. Some of you will read this and know that I am a nurse. Some of you may think I make a lot of money for being a nurse. That’s not true. I make enough to pay for my student loans, rent, and other expenses I need to cover for myself and my family. With this said, emergencies like this are not accounted for in my budgeted expenses. Hospital bills, tests, labs, and different procedures for my father to get better are adding up and I cannot pay for everything. Yesterday, my family and I made a decision to give the doctors until Friday of this week to give us a progress report on my father’s condition. If progress is not shown, we will have to take him out of the hospital, even against medical advice. This morning I was told by the doctors that there is progress. His bleeding is stable but the fluid accumulation keeps increasing. The doctors told us that if they let him go home, they cannot monitor the fluid build up and he can have a seizure and possibly go in to a coma. I cannot live with myself if I have to make the decision to pull him out of the hospital against medical advice knowing that he could go into a coma due to a fluid build up in his brain. I am a nurse and I am supposed to help sick people or at least make them comfortable. I am not God to take one’s life and decide to let him pass or increase his risk of going into a coma without trying to help him or find the way to help him if I no longer can. All your help will go towards his medical expenses and medications. Even if you cannot donate, please share my father’s story to help cover his medical expenses. Thank you for taking the time to read the page. Every little bit counts.
