About five years ago our elderly mother, Dolores Hodges, was diagnosed with stage four Inflammatory Breast Cancer.  After several treatments of Chemo, and a mastectomy, we thought she was in the clear. But this was not the case.  A spot appeared on her other breast as well as in her Lymph-nodes.  Several more Chemo Treatments later, weekly trips to MD Anderson in Houston from Louisiana, and another mastectomy, we again think that things that this nightmare is finally coming to an end. 

Were we wrong.  

The cancer has now metastasized to a Very Aggressive form of Skin Cancer and taking over her entire torso and her upper arms,  as well as causing Severe Swelling and Extreme Pain.  The Dr's are doing what they can to manage the pain, but nothing seems to be working on the cancer or the swelling. We are looking into other Clinical Trials and treatments. However these are expensive and not covered by her insurance or Medicare.  Over the course of her struggle, she has taken 120 trips to Houston, received 112 Chemo Treatments, 77 doses of Radiation and has had 3 Surgeries.  And now, the medications, bandages and dressings are costing close to $1600 per Month! They have gone though all of their retirement over the last few years and are trying cover their medical, home and daily expenses on a part-time job and Social Security. 

We are now at the point where we are asking for the help of family, friends and the community.
