Dolly's Journey: Overcoming Osteosarcoma

Donation protected

Hello! I'm Dolly's mom, Karma. Dolly is my 6 year old irish wolfhound and my first born daughter lol Dolly had started limping in September and on exam had shoulder pain. She had xrays of her shoulder and was diagnosed with supraspinatus tendinitis. Her pain was maintained with nsaids and laser therapy. A couple weeks in, her limping returned despite of therapy and pain meds. She went outside to potty and we heard screaming coming from outside. Dylan had to carry Dolly in because she was in excruciating pain. We finally got her calmed down after 10 minutes and gave her some pain meds and we then noticed swelling in her wrist. We took her into the vet where she had a fracture due to tumor eating away at the bone. That afternoon she had her front leg amputated and sent to the lab to evaluate that and the lymphnode in the area. Those 2 weeks were absolutely miserable waiting for her results. Even though I already knew what it was going to be. Results came back that it was indeed Osteosarcoma, or bone cancer. Which is a very highly metastasizing cancer. Dolly is currently being seen in Fishers for chemotherapy and is signed up for the Yale trial vaccine in hopes to get approved to be part of the study. We love our girl and besides the cancer diagnosis she has been her big, lovey, goofy, sweet giant lapdog self. Our hopes are to elongate and give her a good quality of life. Her health and happiness along with comfort is our main goal. She has been tolerating her first round of chemo very well, but likely has 6 more rounds along with radiography and lab work fairly often. We're also hoping to get her fitted for an artificial limb. Initially we were planning to get money from the bank because this is going to be VERY expensive, but a family member mentioned gofundme. Anything helps. We love our girl so so much. She is our first daughter. We cannot fathom life without her, and her sister Millie would be lost without her. Even if you can't donate, please please pray for our girl that everything works out and she continues to be healthy, pain free and happy through this long road ahead of her. We're hoping to raise enough to at least help cover some of the costs: chemo, amputation, bloodwork, radiographs and interpretation by specialists, prosthetic, trial vaccines, and follow ups. Thanks, and God bless! Feel free to share our story or follow her journey on my Facebook page.
