On Friday June 5th, Little Miss Dolly arrived from a breeder in TN to her forever home. Immediately after being home Kerry contacted the breeder concerned about Dollys weight, she’s a 9 week old basset hound puppy and weighed under 3 pounds. The breeder assured her everything is okay. Later that night, Dolly had some blood in her stool. Again Kerry contacted the breeder who assumed her that she received a clean bill of health and it was just stress. The next morning , Dolly would hardly move. She wouldn’t eat, didn’t interact with the other dogs in the home and became lethargic. Kerry rushed her to New England Animal Medical Center in West Bridgewater. Sadly, Dolly was diagnosed with PARVO. The vet confirmed that the puppy was shipped very, very sick. The incubation period for PARVO doesn’t add up to the timeline the breeder supplied. Dolly was immediately admitted to the ICU and were she still remains. Kerry has reached out to the breeder and he refuses to help with the medical bills. He has basically said the dog was fine, and does not want to communicate any longer. Dolly is receiving plasma treatment around the clock. She’s on a feeding tube and is being given 4 different antibiotics to help her recover. She has a 50/50 chance of survival.. she is fighting hard. Her white blood cell count and blood pressure has improved. The doctor said she will need to stay in the hospital for at least 5 days, could be longer if she pulls through. Kerry just received an estimate of $6000-$8000 to save Dolly. My sister has already paid $4400 to try to save her ... that’s enough for 2 days. Kerry also plans on doing everything she can to go after this breeder to make sure that this never happens to another puppy or family again. My sister is always there to help anyone in need! This is not only heartbreaking for her, but also draining her financially. Any help is much appreciated!!
