Dollars For (Kenny) Dixon

Friends: This is an update from Ken and Barb regarding Ken's cancer battle. "As many of you know Ken was on an immunotherapy clinical trail at UW Madison. It was a two fold process: first boost his immune system, second weaken the cancer cells so that his body could fight them. The trial was the last option available to fight his particular strain of cancer. Unfortunately it was unsuccessful. All of his cancer cells continue to grow. We met with the doctor on Thursday, July 11th and got the worst news possible. The cancer has destroyed his liver. There is no medical treatment for extensive liver damage. We are now faced with the inevitability of liver failure. It is happening faster than we could have imagined. With the liver unable to filter toxins in his body he will become jaundice and more fatigued. He will eventually go to sleep and not wake up. The doctor told us that this will happen in the next 2 weeks, maybe 3. The only positive thing about all of this is that he will not be in any pain."

What originally started as a routine in your 50's medical checkup for Ken, it turned into a battle he has been fighting the last 2 years.  Ken has his wife Barb and his sons that have been by his side during his surgery, treatments and now this news.  Ken has been a friend, a business owner and a LaCrosse Coach.  He has touched hundreds if not thousands of people's lives.  A man with a dry sense of humor, he is husband, father, employee, friend, mentor, coach and all around nice guy.  This news has shocked the Dixon family and Kenny's closest friends.

If you can help the Dixon family in any way, please do as it will be greatly appreciated.  The family is overwhelmed currently by the news and the very short length of time left; no one can be prepared for something like this.

On behalf of the family, many thanks.

*a local benefit is planned for 7/20 in East Troy, Wi.
