Dollars for Dozey, the Tortoise

We are reaching out to share a heartbreaking story about Dozey, a resilient and gentle tortoise who has been through unimaginable hardship.

Last week when an electrical fire ignited, Dozey was in her enclosure, which was completely consumed by flames. Miraculously, Dozey survived, but not without significant injuries. Her shell, once a symbol of her resilience, was severely burned, and her overall health has been compromised.

Dozey is a beloved member of the Tropiano family, providing them with years of companionship, joy, and unforgettable moments. She has been with the family through thick and thin, and her slow and steady presence has always been a source of comfort.

Despite her immense pain and suffering, as well as losing her eyesight, Dozey continues to show incredible strength and determination. Her spirit remains unbroken, and she has fought bravely through every obstacle on her path to healing. The vet and caregivers who have been taking care of Dozey have been astounded by her resilience and will to survive.

We are launching this GoFundMe campaign to raise funds to cover Dozey's ongoing medical expenses, rehabilitation, and the creation of a new, safe enclosure for her. The financial burden of her recovery has been overwhelming, and we appreciate any help you can offer. Every dollar contributed will go directly toward ensuring Dozey's comfort, health, and happiness. Many of you may already know that Jo sits on the board of the Grateful Heart Animal Sanctuary - any additional funds will be donated to the organization in honor of Dozey.
