4/22/25 update on Dax:
Dax Jaron Flickinger, born July 20, 2011, in Oklahoma City, OK went to his eternal home on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, in Lubbock, TX. After a courageous 3 year battle with cancer, Dax is free from pain and at peace, totally healed and in the presence of Pure Love–Jesus Christ.
Dax was the beloved son of Chris and Brooke Flickinger.
Dax brought joy and love to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His short journey on this earth was full of impact. Dax’s life was marked by JOY, generosity, gratitude, compassion tenacity, resilience, and unwavering faith in Jesus. Dax’s passing has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him.
In the words of his older brother, Kidron, Dax is the definition of what a man should aspire to be. When he was hurting, he was always making sure that all of us were feeling okay. He fought back against death relentlessly. He was self-aware. He shared all of his feelings when life made it easy to want to check out. He worked hard and played hard. He loved everyone first. Dax’s sister, Naya, thinks of him as always kind, funny, and brave. He was the best person any of us will ever know.
Dax’s joyful and adventurous spirit found gladness in nature and music. He loved riding his bike, hiking in the mountains, farming and playing drums to worship music for countless hours.
Dax is survived by his loving parents, Chris and Brooke, his brother Kidron and his sister Naya. Dax was the cherished grandson of John and Karla Flickinger and Pansy and Wendell Bostwick. He also leaves behind aunts, uncles and cousins who adored him dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ricky Byers, and his cousin, Garrett Byers.
Those who knew Dax will remember him for his infectious smile, overwhelming giggles and laughter, deeply rooted faith in Jesus and his passion for showing genuine love and kindness to everyone he encountered. Dax had a rare gift for making others smile and feel special. He was the best at never withholding a warm, sincere compliment. Dax always said, “It’s easy to love.” He embodied that very statement every single day. We share Dax’s love and respect for all his medical & special care teams, pastors & intercessors, throughout the cancer journey and honor their support of our entire family.
Recent update on Dax:
Dax has had quite a year. He finished chemo in January and his cancer was in remission until recently. After CT and PET scans and biopsies—it is obvious the cancer has returned. This time it is worse. The lymphoma is around his bone marrow and vital organs like heart, lungs, and aorta.
Dax just finished round 1 of a slightly different chemo regime and will go through 5 more rounds. The challenge of keeping cancer away this time is far greater, and the family is exploring a variety of long term treatment options. These are all time consuming and costly.
The Flickingers are so grateful for the hundreds of people who joined and supported Dax’s fight last year, both financially and in prayer. They need everyone this year more than ever.

Hello there,
Reaching out to family, friends, and other caring people for some help. I’d like to start by sharing the story of our sweet boy, Dax, and his battle with cancer.
Dax is 12.
His 6th grade year started August 16th. Like any other year, Dax was excited to see his friends! Unfortunately, 3 days into the school year, he got a stomach bug. After some recovering at home, Dax talked his mom into going back to school, but was sent home early by the nurse. He wasn’t able to keep anything down and lost an alarming amount of weight very quickly, so his parents took him the doctor to figure out what was going on.
By August 26th, the doctors had run tests and found out that there was a tumor in his GI system. August 28th, the doctors did a biopsy and got a preliminary diagnosis of Anaplastic Lymphoma; however, they needed to run more tests to figure out a treatment plan. As test results started coming back, the picture of what was going on in Dax’s body started to dim severely, possibly indicating kidney involvement.
Things intensified quickly, and on September 6th, a PET scan revealed the cancer had spread to various areas of Dax’s body and it is confirmed to be Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma, Stage 4.
The doctors are recommending an extensive 12-month plan to treat the cancer. The next 12 months are likely to be very difficult for Dax and his family—and we are here to do our best to lighten their load.
The money raised from all of you contributing to, and sharing, this GoFundMe account will go toward Dax’s treatment costs and other healthcare expenses.
As most of you probably know, Dax is adored by his parents, Chris and Brooke, and his brother and sister, Kidron and Naya. Chris and Brooke are both devoted to being with Dax as much as possible over the course of the next 12 months and for the duration of his treatment. This means more expenses for the Flickinger family and less income.
A few specific needs include: alterations to the house that will allow Dax to stay at home over the course of his treatment, supplemental income for the Flickinger family, medical support from home health, as well as medical equipment and supplies, etc.
Dax is a beautiful human. He is a loved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend to everyone he meets. Money helps and prayer heals, so please pray constantly for strength for this family and healing for Dax.
On behalf of the Flickinger/Byers crew, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for you prayers and support.
