Hello All, this is Jeffrey Rascoe aka J-Raz. This year marks the 18th year anniversary of my Annual Father's Day CookOut. As a single father, I saw how myself as well as my friends who had children, usually had nothing to do on Father's Day. I wanted to do something to celebrate Fatherhood and give Father's something to look forward to on Father's Day. And so the J-Raz Annual Father's Day CookOut was born. The CookOut had humble beginnings but has since grown to something that brings Father's from NC, SC, ATL, and of course, the DMV to join in the celebration every 3rd Sunday in June. Last year The CookOut was awarded Certificates of Appreciation from the Prince George's Department of Health as well as Congresswoman Donna Edwards for enriching the lives of the community. The Washingtonian newspaper also did a full page story on the CookOut. We now have approximately 200-300 people every year come out and celebrate with us every year. The CookOut is FREE, has always been FREE, and will always be FREE!!! In the past I have funded this myself. But as the crowds have grown, so have expenses. With your help, we can continue to provide fellowships, good times, and continue "enriching lives". We have a HUGE grill and a professional DJ who keeps the music going all day. The CookOut was moved to Rosaryville State Park in Upper Marlboro, MD on 301 (right in the middle of the highway I adopted through the "Adopt-A-Highway" program) last year after we realized we had completely outgrown Anacostia Park. I am asking that you donate what you can to help fund this project. Give as often and as much (or as little) as you like. Every dollar helps.
