‘DO IT FOR DAN CAMPAIGN.’
As you all know, with the Covid-19 restrictions in place and Ireland almost in ‘lockdown’, it is near impossible to keep up our usual daily routines. It is a tough time for everyone at the minute; however, it has led to even tougher times for the Donoher family as many of their fundraising activities for Dan have been hampered as a result of the current health pandemic. Therefore, Newmarket GAA, Co. Cork would like to play our part by running 500KM in a day next Sunday April 26th. Yes! That is correct! 500KM in one day and all funds raised will be donated to the ‘DO IT FOR DAN CAMPAIGN.’
Dan Donoher is suffering from a rare muscular disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1. Dan has recently just turned 1 and his life expectancy is barely beyond that. Dan and his parents need our help and support to raise $2.1 million dollars for him to receive the medical treatment he needs in America. The medical intervention needed is a cell infusion and is only available in the States.
Niall, Aisling and their son Dan are in a battle that no family should ever have to face. Dan’s parents both played GAA and represented their club and county with pride. Hopefully, the GAA community will get behind them and try raising vital funds needed for Dan to get this vital treatment.
Mindful and respectful of the restrictions currently in place, we as a club have decided to take on a 500KM challenge in a day on next Sunday April 26th. We will have both male and female participants. Each participant will be given a target of either 5 or 10KM and will then map out (within 2km) their own route. We will also have some Special Guests taking part who will be revealed throughout the week.
Our social media platforms will be updated throughout the day on Sunday as individuals hit their targets of 5 or 10KM and we become closer to the overall target of 500KM in one day
Please get behind TEAM DAN and contribute what few euros you can. No amount is too big or too small. Every little helps! To date over €1 million has been raised but, due to the current health pandemic and many of the family’s fundraising initiatives being hampered, your support is needed now more than ever.

the coming days.
